Local food & drink favoured by The Hive

A local Worcestershire catering firm will be keeping visitors to The Hive fed and watered after being awarded the catering contract this week.

Pear Tree Catering has been selected to manage The Hive's cafe in anticipation for the opening in summer 2012. Pear tree catering have a passion for providing eco-friendly, wholesome products and services in a friendly environment that provides value for money and value for the community.

The Hive's menu for the cafe will be created using fresh and healthy ingredients sourced locally which supports local producers and produce.



Guy Ward, Director from Pear Tree Catering said "We are delighted to be working with Worcestershire County Council and the University of Worcester on the new and exciting Hive project. The local food and drink will create a delicious new menu for The Hive cafe making free-range and sustainable food available to all who visit."



After a carefully managed tender process, Worcestershire County Council and the University of Worcester - with the expertise of The Hive's facilities management firm SGP – selected Pear Tree Catering for their ethically and environmentally friendly business offering.



Pear Tree will also provide catering for a variety of the sneaky preview events running up to the opening of The Hive, from February 2012. Children attending a sustainability event for schools in March will be among the first to taste the delicious locally produced food.



Pear Tree catering currently manages the very successful Orchard Cafe at Worcester Woods Country Park who was awarded Tastes of Worcestershire Winner for 2009, 2010 and 2011 by the tourism partnership, Destination Worcestershire.
